The Orthopedics Department at KWMC focuses on training MBBS and BDS students in diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This specialty encompasses bone, joint, muscle, and ligament conditions, including fractures, arthritis, spinal disorders, and sports injuries.
The department emphasizes a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills through lectures, clinical demonstrations, and hands-on training. Students gain valuable experience in diagnosing and treating orthopedic conditions through outpatient consultations, ward rounds, and assisting in surgical procedures. Facilities include a Fracture Clinic for managing acute injuries, a Plaster Room for casting and splinting, and access to modern imaging technologies such as X-rays for accurate diagnosis.
The central library supports learning with resources on trauma management, orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation, and biomechanics. With a structured curriculum and advanced facilities, the Orthopedics Department equips students with the skills necessary to excel in musculoskeletal care and surgery.
