The Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology (Skin & VD) Department at KWMC is dedicated to training MBBS and BDS students in diagnosing and managing diseases of the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and leprosy. This specialty covers conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, skin cancers, and venereal diseases, emphasizing both clinical and cosmetic dermatology.
The department integrates lectures, clinical demonstrations, and patient case discussions, providing a comprehensive learning experience. Students gain practical exposure through outpatient consultations and hands-on procedures like biopsies, cryotherapy, and dermatological treatments. Facilities include a Dermatology Clinic for common skin conditions, a Venereology Unit for STI management, and a Minor Procedures Room for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
The library offers extensive resources, including textbooks, atlases, and journals on dermatology and venereology. The department's structured approach ensures students develop the expertise to address a wide range of dermatological and venereal conditions effectively.
Kumudini Women’s Medical College (KWMC) was established within the umbrella of Kumudini Welfare Trust in 2001.
