The Gastroenterology Department at KWMC is dedicated to educating MBBS and BDS students in the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and biliary tract. This specialty addresses conditions such as gastritis, ulcers, hepatitis, pancreatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastrointestinal cancers.
The department combines lectures, clinical case discussions, and hands-on training to provide a well-rounded understanding of gastroenterological disorders. Students gain practical experience through outpatient clinics, endoscopy demonstrations, and participation in ward rounds. Key facilities include an Endoscopy Suite equipped for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, a Liver Function Testing Unit for advanced diagnostic evaluations, and access to imaging technologies like abdominal ultrasonography.
The library offers extensive resources, including textbooks, journals, and case studies on gastroenterology and hepatology. With its comprehensive curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities, the Gastroenterology Department prepares students to excel in the care and management of digestive health disorders.
